Auditions for the Southern University Jazz Ensemble are open to all students regardless of major.

This ensemble explores a full spectrum of classic big band reportoire, ranging from classic swing to high-energy latin, funk, and Traditional New Orleans music.

The Jazz Ensemble ideally consists of:

• Saxophones (5): Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone Sax

• Trumpets (4): Trpt, Trpt 2, Trpt 3, Trpt 4

• Trombones (4): T-Bone 1, T-Bone 2, T-Bone 3, T-Bone 4

• Bass (1)

• Piano (1)

• Drums (1)

• Guitar (1)
